GLOBAL BRIDGE NETWORK

For over 65 years, SYSTRA has maintained a prominent position as a global leader in the realm of transportation infrastructure. Among its distinguished product lines, bridges stand out as a cornerstone of our technical excellence, providing solutions that prioritize safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

The integration of International Bridge Technologies into the SYSTRA Group took place in 2017. This union synergized the complementary technical expertise of both entities, enabling them to offer specialized engineering services covering every aspect of bridge design, construction, and maintenance.

At the heart of SYSTRA Bridges lies the Global Bridge Network, a collective of over 350 bridge specialists deployed worldwide. This network includes Bridge Design Centers in key locations, as shown on the map below.

SYSTRA Bridges stands at the forefront of shaping the future. Our commitment to research, innovation, and sustainability lays the foundation for revolutionary developments in bridges. Through our Global Bridge Network of connected teams, innovative ideas are redefining tomorrow’s success of bridge engineering solutions.

Commitment to Sustainable INFRASTRUCTURES

The worldwide production of concrete and steel, the two primary construction materials, is a significant contributor to the planet’s carbon dioxide emissions, accounting for 8% of the total. In light of this global issue, SYSTRA has a crucial role in the pursuit of environmental responsibility. Our focus lies in the optimization of technical solutions aimed at reducing both our environmental impact and carbon footprint. Furthermore, we are dedicated to fostering and advocating for sustainable practices throughout the entire lifecycle of our projects.

All of our bridge projects are approached with a strong commitment to addressing the challenges presented by climate change and sustainable development, with a keen eye on the economic considerations that make these endeavors practical.

Specifically, our iconic innovation, the patented U-shape viaduct solution by SYSTRA, stands out as an environmentally conscious solution. This approach optimizes material usage and significantly enhances the viaduct’s harmonious integration within its natural environment.

SYSTRA holds the 4th position in in the Engineering News-Record (ENR) International Bridges Category for the year of 2023.

Our dedication to sustainable bridge projects is exemplified by the following infrastructures:

  • Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway, Kuwait:
140 thousand CO2 tons compared to the base design.
  • Samuel de Champlain Bridge, Montreal, Canada: Platinum Envision Award for the excellence and sustainability of its design.
  • Waaban Crossing, Canada: Placing an environmental turbidity curtain and wildlife passages, allowing safe passage of turtles and wildlife through the temporary rock causeway during construction.
  • HS2, United Kingdom: A target of 50% reduction in
CO2 emissions are to be achieved through the different design phases.
  • Chambal Bridge, India: Noise barriers were installed on the deck to avoid disturbing river crocodiles.
  • Mauritius Extradosed Bridge, Mauritius Island:
SYSTRA proposed an alternate concept design with savings of 39% in concrete, 33% in reinforcing steel, and 20% in stay cables compared with the existing design.
