DAVENPORT DIAMOND GUIDEWAY PROJECT
The Davenport Diamond is a new high-quality rail project aimed at enhancing the rail service capacity in the Toronto area by removing one of the last high traffic rail crossings in the area. This project will allow a separation between passenger and freight trains through the construction of an elevated guideway, that will be accompanied by the redevelopment of the space under the structure for the benefit of the community.
The Davenport Diamond Rail Grade Separation Project represents an important part of Metrolinx’s Regional Express Rail (RER) program, which will bring more train trips to GO Transit’s Barrie line and transform it from a commuter service to a frequent, two-way, all-day service, seven days a week. This large-scale program represents the joint efforts of the provincial government, Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario, and the City of Toronto to move people across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) faster and easier.
SYSTRA IBT is responsible for the detailed design and construction engineering of the elevated guideway.
